Edgar Degas Chalk Art Lesson

I am thrilled with Discovering Great Artists by MaryAnn F. Kohl and Kim Solga. We used this book to help us with a lesson on Edgar Degas.

Edgar Degas is famous for his paintings of dancers. He was fascinated by movement and his art captured the movement of dancers. What a perfect artist to study during our D is for dance week!

First we watched Degas and the Dancer.

I originally planned on doing "Chalk on Cloth" (p. 41 in Discovering Great Artists) for this lesson, but our air conditioner died that week and we were temporarily living at my dad's, so we adjusted and did the lesson on the driveway with sidewalk chalk.
